“You are unceasing spiritual being, created for an intimate and transforming friendship with the creative community that is the Trinity.” If you’ve emailed with me you’ve seen this quote by Dallas Willard. This is our true identity and vocation—to live in loving friendship with God the Father, Son and Spirit. This relationship profoundly changes us! As I wrote last month, our prayer is that our love relationship with God increasingly becomes the joyful source and center and story of our lives. Lord, help us to live this daily in thought, word and deed.
Our Bishop, Todd Hunter of the Diocese of C4SO, writes, “the Trinity is best conceived of as the primal source and original place of relational love.” The Trinitarian community is both example and impetus for our lives. “In the Trinity we have a model of each member of the Trinity who lovingly admires, blesses, supports, empowers, inspires and builds up the others.” As Christ’s followers, it is our delight and privilege “to intentionally arrange the affairs of our lives to be drawn into the interactive reality of Trinitarian love and embrace.” Wow. May the story of who God is, of who we are in Christ, and of God’s invitation to the world be the narrative that enlivens and guides us as Trinity Lakeside Anglican Church.
