Dear Friends of the Abbey,
For years I’ve traveled to a small adobe monastery tucked between the Chama River and the copper cliffs of northwest New Mexico. In their simple daily life of prayer and work I find renewal and rest in Jesus. In the heavy silence of that humble hidden place, my soul stills enough to hear Jesus’ voice.
Five years ago, that community (and others like it) inspired the founding of Trinity Lakeside Abbey. We are a small community sharing a simple life of worship, prayer and care of souls. We seek to be in Jesus a sanctuary of rest for the weary, a people and place of Christ’s presence and peace. We are listeners, called to keep space for listening to Jesus in the fourth largest metro area of the U.S.
As I look back at how God has faithfully established the Abbey, I have much gratitude. We are small but true to our calling. And as we lean into that calling, we seek to expand this ministry to nearby acreage, a place of natural beauty on which to build a proper Abbey—where we can worship and pray, offer retreats, listening groups, spiritual direction and soul care, and accommodate overnight guests, especially weary clergy and ministry leaders. Where we welcome all as Christ, whether for a day, a season or a lifetime.
If you have found rest at the Abbey and value this ministry, we welcome your prayers! And if you would like to donate toward this ministry of renewal and care, especially as we move toward a future home for the Abbey, see the Give page on our website.
Happy Thanksgiving and a blessed Advent!
Rev. Dr. Markene Meyer, founding priest
