Safe Space

As one of our supportive friends, I hope to see you at our 4th Anniversary worship celebration on Trinity Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 10:00 am at Trinity Lakeside Abbey. We have much to celebrate. After a year of prayer and discernment, we began in uncertain times—the first global pandemic in a century. And frankly, those uncertain times have continued in one way or another.

Trinity Lakeside is uniquely positioned as a fresh expression of God’s church—a smaller, more contemplative community of Christ-followers. A peaceful, quiet place amidst the noise. It is our prayer that in this chaotic time we might somehow serve as a sanctuary of rest for the weary. A safe space in which to find renewal and healing and peace in Christ.

We see this vision taking shape in one person at a time, one small gathering at a time. At a recent silent retreat, we all agreed that our souls were much better off after taking the morning to simply be with Jesus.

Through this community, people are discovering ways in which they can know Jesus’ living presence in our world and carry that awareness with them into their daily life and work. Practicing the presence of God—that was how Brother Lawrence described it many years ago. We want to practice God’s presence and help others to do so.

Jesus is with us in 2024. None of what we see in our world is a surprise to him. None is beyond his reach or concern. And our prayer is that thoughtful, prayerful attention to Jesus’ presence leads to peaceful, compassionate action in our broken world.

To mark our 4th anniversary, I am asking you to invest in what we do. We offer retreats and spiritual direction at minimal cost and I’m asking you to help underwrite our efforts. Our retreats reach people across the metroplex, our spiritual direction ministry reaches a growing number of clergy and church leaders across the country. And there is more to do.

Please go to the Give page of our website to make your fourth anniversary gift. Consider setting up a monthly donation. Thank you for your gracious support of this much-needed ministry which touches not only the local community, but the broader church.

Let me know if you will be joining the celebration on Sunday, May 26: markene@trinitylakeside.org.
