Reimagining Spiritual Disciplines

Trinity Lakeside Abbey Newsletter

Epiphany and Lent 2026

Citing the rich formational life of monastic communities, author Jared Patrick Boyd, in Finding Freedom in Constraint: Reimagining Spiritual Disciplines as a Communal Way of Life, invites us to such a life today. He writes, “I have just one hope for you: that you can begin a journey of finding freedom through the practice of constraint, sustained by the presence of others who are on the journey with you.”

Join us in reading and discussing Boyd’s book in our online Book Group: Wednesdays, 12:00 – 1:15 pm, January 21 – March 25. Email admin@trinitylakeside.org for more or to join us.

Join us on Sunday, February 15 at 10:00 am for a pre-Lenten contemplative service of Holy Communion with imposition of ashes. Lent begins on February 18 and is a season of self-examination, letting go of what distracts us from God, and taking up practices which draw us near to God. This is our “Ash Wednesday” service.

Our Lenten Silent Retreat: Gifts in the Wilderness, is Saturday, February 21, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm at Trinity Lakeside Abbey.

Enjoy a restful day with Jesus, including prayer, silent reflection and gentle conversation. Each retreat features a unique written guide of meditations around scripture, art, poetry or nature.
