“I sketched this out on your front porch at the last retreat,” she said casually. The artwork above (to which she later added color) is entitled, Road to Emmaus, Texas Style. It embodies what we pray will happen when you visit Trinity Lakeside Abbey. Whether joining us for contemplative worship, guided day retreat or Ignatian group, or working our new community garden, we pray that you will draw near to our Lord and experience his presence here.
As we will soon celebrate this Christmastide, Jesus’ presence changes everything! Our joy as a community is making space for you to know and love him more intimately. To know Jesus’ presence as you walk the road of life. And like the two on the road to Emmaus, we do not do so alone, but together with Christ and one another.
As we’ve come to realize more fully this year, the Lord has called Trinity Lakeside as both sanctuary of rest for the weary and hospital for the wounded. Jesus is our rest and peace, healing and hope—who comforts the brokenhearted, turns our mourning to joy and sets captives free (Isaiah 61:1-3). We serve as wounded healers, on the journey of healing, traveling the same road as you—seeking deeper communion with Jesus.
You are an important part of what we do, for God works through your prayers and participation, encouragement and financial gifts to make our mission possible. As we wrap up 2023 and look to 2024, please consider a year end gift or monthly support. We do this ministry very simply, and hope to do more down the road, but our budget for 2024 is $66,000.
